We began with heritage

For over two decades, we have invested in and restored buildings and sites across London, Glasgow, Berlin and Melbourne.

Victorian terraces, sandstone offices and heritage shopfronts taught us something that informs every project we undertake: how a building meets the ground determines how it is used, how it endures, and how it is valued over time.

When we turned to new development, we brought these lessons with us.

As developers, our role is to make decisions that hold commercially, physically and over time.

That means delivering buildings that respond to their setting, are built to endure, and create long-term value for those who live in them.

Place First

Adaptive Reuse

Material Honesty

Longevity

We study the setting, the street, the landscape, the neighbourhood character, and let the design emerge from what we find there.

Every Croft project begins with place research.

Before we commit to a project, we understand the place.

We walk the area at different times of day to understand how it is used. We assess the existing built form - scale, setbacks and rhythm - and how buildings sit within the street.

We analyse orientation, light and views. We document the prevailing material language and construction approach. We identify what works, and why.

We speak with residents to understand what is valued and where there is unmet need.

This work informs the key decisions: what to build, how much to build, and how it should be delivered.

From the Founder -

We began by investing in buildings others had overlooked – we saw value in their history, structure and their sense of place. That teaches you what endures. As developers, we apply that same discipline, making decisions that enhance value over time.

We’ve spent years restoring buildings that others had given up on. That work teaches you something about patience, about materials, about what lasts. We bring the same thinking to new construction, not because it’s fashionable, but because it’s how we know to build.
