Approval Secured for Mountain View Residences, Rosanna

Croft is pleased to confirm that planning approval has been secured for Mountain View Residences, with the Victorian Government endorsing the project and Banyule City Council subsequently issuing the planning permit.

This milestone marks the culmination of an extensive design, planning and review process. It reflects a growing recognition, at both State and local level, of the need for well-considered housing within Melbourne’s established suburbs.

Mountain View Residences has been shaped as a deliberate response to that need. The project delivers 17 architecturally considered, right-sizer homes within a predominantly detached, leafy setting - providing a form of housing that is increasingly necessary, but rarely delivered with this level of attention.

Croft is at the forefront of this shift toward the “missing middle”- housing that sits between detached homes and higher-density apartments, and which has historically been under-delivered in suburbs like Rosanna. The focus is not simply on increasing supply, but on how that supply is introduced: high quality, measured, durable and aligned with its surroundings.

The approval process included detailed engagement with planning authorities, design review and community input. The outcome is a scheme that balances increased housing supply with a disciplined response to its context - through considered massing, setbacks, material selection and a strong emphasis on landscape, light and long-term liveability.

This approval is an important step forward, not only for the project, but as part of a broader evolution in how housing is delivered across Melbourne. It demonstrates that increased density, when approached with care and discipline, can sit comfortably within existing neighbourhoods and contribute positively to their long-term character.

Construction planning is now underway, with further updates to follow.
